About ME {.home.}
On August 20th, 2004 I, and a couple hundred other Air Force airmen,
deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). This
was the second half of a history making deployment. The Army, known
for doing it themselves, had never before asked for help from the other
branches of service. In this instance, Air Force personnel were
tasked with Law and Order (L&O) and Customs Inspection duties while
assigned to the 125th Military Police Battalion, United States Army. My unit was the 887th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron (ESFS),
headquartered at Camp Arifjan. We also supported two detachments,
one at the Kuwait Naval Base (Camp Patriot) and Balad Air Base, Iraq (LSA
Anaconda). I was attached to the former. The primary mission
of the 887th was customs inspections to expedite the return of troops
heading home, and insure that soil and local wildlife didn't make it back
stateside to contaminate our agricultural industry. A noble, but
extremely boring, assignment. While you can't pay me enough to make me do it again (I intentionally *DIDN'T*
join the Army), I can promise you I won't be forgetting the experience.
Below are the pictures that graced the front pages of this website
while I was deployed. For a complete gallery of all the pictures I
took, check it out at the Kodak
