The hard drive keeps failing on my Dell C610 laptop.  Why?

Simple answer: Heat.

Download the latest Dell Diagnostic package from their support website.  Run the "Express Test" option.  It will register at least one error on the fan (Low or No RPM's on HIGH).  If the problem has gone on long enough, you'll also get an error on the LCD inverter which is also about to have a heat related failure.  Hopefully you're still under warranty and Dell (or third party vendor) will repair them for you.
